Freedom Rides!
Transports from one place to another, helping animals get to their forever homes
One of our favorite parts of rescue is getting to partake in Freedom Rides.
How it works:
Freedom Rides are transfers from one location to another. Often, dogs will be “Rescue tagged”, where a rescue in a different area of the state or sometimes from another state altogether will tag an animal for rescue. The fur friend then goes through vetting (shots, spay/neuter, etc.), which is a critical step in the process in order to maintain legal transport status. Once completed teams, groups, rescues, individuals, animal lovers of all types work together to help get a deserving, loving fur-friend from Point A to Point B.
These transports can be and often times are “trains” across the United States. Volunteers will pick up a leg of the trip near their home area to help animals cross the distance to safety. Some volunteers will “go the mile”, and sometimes drive long distances.
Every little bit helps!
